Non-western art unattributed:
Plate I. A. A lustre plate with no rim.
Non-western art unattributed:
Plate I. B-C. A plate decorated similarly to piece A, but with two quadrupeds and two birds. Lustre, honey-coloured.
Non-western art unattributed:
Plate I. C. The under-side of B; with the exception of the undeciphered inscription on the bottom, the decoration is identical with the under-side of A. The powdering on which the six roses are superimposed seems to be composed of the stamens of the mimosa with their peduncles attached. The New Excavations at Rhages
Non-western art unattributed:
Plate II. D. A plate of the same form as pieces A and B-C, but with a slight concavation of the profile which is really a rudimentary rim.
Non-western art unattributed:
Plate II. E-F. Two pale lustre bowls.

Plate II. F. A bowl. The design, called badambouté (almond-shaped), is on a spotted ground. This piece, to which I have alluded in footnote * (p. 211), seems to be an example in which the potter has tried to display his skill in using different coloured lustres, viz., an olive tint beginning in brown where the brush was fullest and ending in a fine green, also a carmine-brown, and an ochre tint. This bowl also presents another peculiarity; the decoration of the rim of the upper-side with the frieze of letters, which form the same inscription found on pieces A and D. I know another piece, a little cylindrical cup, which reproduces the inscriptions of A and B-C alternately. The New Excavations at Rhages

Plate III. G-H. Two large bowls.

Plate III. H. This piece is reproduced to show the normal profile of these bowls. On the outside we find the tear-drop decoration also found in Chinese ceramics of the T'ang period. Reflection, red. The New Excavations at Rhages

Plate III. J. A small plate decorated with floral forms.
