[Asprey, 165-169 New Bond Street, London, 725 Fifth Avenue, New York] 2 fine and rare late George III tulipwood and gilt miniature hanging cabinets, the veneered tops with gilt brass galleries, the doors with gilt and composition fronts with entwined foliage and anthemions at the corners open at half the cabinet depth to reveal velvet-lined interiors probably originally to display miniatures. One cabinet with rectangular miniatures of Mrs. Edwin Lascelles, later Lady Harewood and Charles 3rd Earl of Harrington, both after Reynolds; the other with 2 subsidiary doors decorated with gilt 'basketwork' and with octagonal miniatures beneath coronets one of Charles Wyndham as a winged cherub; inscribed on a paper at the back:- 'Charles Wyndham 7th Earl of Harrington, son of the Rev'd Hon.ble FitzRoy Stanhope (4th son of 3rd Earl) painted by A. Durm 1816'; the other of Lord Russeil as a winged cherub, inscribed:- 'Lord Russell son to Francis and Anna Maria, Marquess and Marchioness of Tavistock, after became 8th Duke of Bedford J. D. Engleheart 88 Newman St. 1812'.
