[A. C. Pinna, 20 Dover St., Piccadilly, London. A large Rose-Verte Plate. Diameter, 19 inches. Height, 2 1/2 inches. This plate is a very fine large example of this period, and is in perfect condition. A curious feature of this time is that the diaper border only covers half the rim, and the central ornamentation is continues over the side and up to the diaper work, thus imparting an appearance of size that would otherwise not exist. The story depicted is one of long ago, when two ladies, who were attending a series of services given at the temple of the Water Moon, for the release of souls from Purgatory, were insulted by a Buddhist Priest. They are shown leaving after giving him a well-deserved beating. In the back-ground are two attendants looking through a window, highly amused at the trouble into which the priest has got himself.]
