The borders are intricately enamelled black in a formal leaf design; the corner plaques are enamelled in bright colors on gold, and the oval panels, like the shaped centre panels, are ciselé silver-gilt in high relief. The background is delicately engraved in a running design. The whole composition is splendidly rich and at the same time in the refined taste of this period.]
