[Berry, 25 Piccadilly, London] Front View. We illustrate this month an exceptionally beautiful gold snuff-box, the surface of which is entirely covered with inlaid pieces of various coloured stones, by the famous master J.C. Neuber of Dresden, circa 1780. He originated this type of gold and stone work, which is now generally known as "Neuber" work. A particularly interesting feature id the numbering of each section (clearly seen in the photograph), which is by no means general, and only found on certain specimens. The section are numbered 1 to 10, and are entered in a little hand-written period brooklet, where are described the names and descriptions of the individual specimen stones, all of which are found in Saxony. THere is a delightully painted oval Meissen porcelain plaques insert in the base, with a view of the Albrechtsburg, where Meissen porcelain was first invented, and the oval plaque on the lid, enamelled with an allegorical subject, is surrounded by rose diamonds.]
