Designed in excellent taste, which lends the beauty of classic tradition of perfect Chinese art, yet harmonizes with varied types of interior decoration.

[Cyril Andrade, 24 Hanover Square, London] Irish Flintlock Gun. Circa 1680-90. A unique specimen of the finest quality; the stock, which is of walnut, is richly inlaid with silver in partly floral scroll design, male figure with hands corded behind his back, implements of war, chased heads, warlike scenes, dolphin's head with long tail, a small coat of arms (crown below coronet supported by two female figures), carved wood masks on either side, and serpent with foliage coming from mouth. Along the barrel appears the name, F. MADDOCK, CASTEL YARDE, DUBLIN, and below the lock, F. MADDOCK. The steel barrel, which is beautifully chased, is 42½ inches in length.

The breeze is stealing quietly in through the blinds; the moon's rays shine through window embroideries; like the perfume of flowers the incense smokes in the morning tripod; as under the lotus-shaped lamp I select my book.
